Battle McCarthy's US practice is working
with Chicago based architects, Perkins & Will to
provide a fully integrated Engineering Design service
for the new Federal Courthouse in Los Angeles, California.
The 1,000,000 sq. ft. project has an
estimated construction cost of $350 million dollars
(£209m) and is being financed and managed by the
U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). Battle McCarthy’s
vision is to make the LA Courthouse a landmark self-sustainable
building. The new Courthouse will also utilise specialist
steel structures to create a unique structure that is
designed to withstand temperature, gravity, wind, earthquakes
and in extraordinary cases such as a bomb blast.
