Job Opportunities - Senior Structural Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer with at least 7 years post qualification experience, and a minimum of a postgraduate degree in a building services related field (ideally 1st Class).

Suitable candidates must be proficient in the following in order to produce drawings and carry out the following design calculations:
  • ROBOT, STAAD or STRAP software
  • Wind loading calculations
  • Vibration analysis and ideally understanding of seismic analysis
Candidates should be familiar with the structural analysis, mechanics and design of traditional buildings, but also:
  • Tall buildings
  • Long-span structures
  • Understanding of modern methods of construction
  • Foundations and retaining structures
  • Materials (and their relevant properties)
  • A range of structural heights and spans.
The successful candidate will need to have an excellent understanding of structural engineering and be able to work without supervision in this regard.
He/she should be familiar with the relevant UK design codes and ideally will have experience with adhering to overseas building codes.
 
The successful candidate will be proficient in designing with all traditional structural materials, including steel, concrete and timber and ideally other more natural building products e.g. reinforced earth, cardboard etc.
 
The candidate must also be fully conversant with the recommendations and best practices relating to structural engineering services.
 
The ideal candidate should be chartered (with IStructE) or looking to gain chartership with two years.  The successful candidate will also need to be fluent in English.
 
The successful candidate will work on a number of high profile projects both in the UK and abroad, and may be required to travel abroad for short periods of time.
