Guy Battle
Building Services and Environmental Engineering Consultant

Guy Battle is one of the founding partners of Battle McCarthy Consulting Engineers which he set up with Christopher McCarthy in1993. He previously worked with Ove Arup and Partners (from 1986). He is an environmental and building services engineer who specialises in the integrated design of low energy and environmentally responsive buildings.

He has been responsible for developing a unique approach to sustainable development within the built environment and has worked on a wide range of projects throughout the world and with many world renowned architects including Foster and Partners, Will Alsop , Sir Richard Rogers, RTKL, SOM, Terry Farrell and Partners, Kohn Pedersen Fox, Hijjas Kasturi Associates, T R Hamzah and Yeang, SOM and Perkins & Will. He has worked on a number of ground breaking sustainable projects such as Jubilee campus at Nottingham University, St. John’s Innovation Centre, Cambridge, Endesa Headquarters, Madrid and Greenwich Millennium Village. During the past 15 years he is credited with developing an innovative approach to sustainable environmental masterplanning including Greenwich Peninsula and ParcBIT Sustainable Masterplan, Mallorca.

Guy has been actively involved in education holding a number of prestigious posts including visiting professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Architectural Association, London, The Royal College of Art and the Bartlett School of Architecture.

Guy’s work is published widely and he was a Jury member for the AIA Top Ten Green Buildings of the Year 2002 in Washington D.C .

In 2003 Battle McCarthy Limited created one of the first Consulting Engineers involved in Carbon Trading. In 2007 dcarbon8 was created by Battle McCarthy Limited to solely focus upon Carbon Trading as a separate practice led by Guy Battle. In 2009, Guy Battle became a Consultant to Battle McCarthy Limited to focus on Carbon Trading.
