Battle McCarthy has worked with Foster and Partners Architects on a proposal for a new globe theater on New York's Governers Island. The ambitious scheme plans to fit the theater inside the historical military prison of Castle Williams.

Environmentally the scheme maximises the use of the unique characteristics of the site utilising :

• Thermal mass cooling from the existing castle structure
• Sun tracking solar shading - maximising views whilst minimising solar gains
• River based thermal cooling
